He's honest and vulnerable and draws on a deep understanding of scripture combined with life stories to make you think and consider what you want the rest of your days to look like. It's not about dying. It's about living. And making a difference.
Thanks for writing this.

The Three Daily Disciplines:
A Leadership Carol
In "The Three Daily Disciplines: A Leadership Carol", Bruce Engerston embarks on a transformative, supernatural journey reminiscent of A Christmas Carol. After a promotion blinds him to his team's challenges, Bruce encounters Jacob, a mysterious guide who leads him through a year-long exploration of leadership. Instead of ghosts, Bruce views films of Ulysses S. Grant, Abraham Lincoln, and Harriet Tubman, showcasing the Three Daily Disciplines: Curiosity, Humility, and Empathy.
Curiosity drives growth, as leaders ask questions and innovate. Humility builds trust, as pride is set aside to prioritize team success. Empathy creates connection by
valuing people over profits and understanding others' perspectives. These principles, embodied by the historical figures during the Civil War, challenge Bruce to reevaluate his approach to leadership and relationships at work and home.
Bruce's transformation mirrors Ebenezer Scrooge's but is deeply rooted in actionable principles that empower leaders to create trust, connection, and lasting impact. Based on Jeff Banning's leadership insights and the Aspire Leadership Experience, this parable inspires readers to adopt these disciplines and leave a legacy of positive influence in their spheres. This modern-day tale is a practical guide to cultivating growth, trust, and connection in leadership.
ENDORSEMENTS
Drew Christian’s reimagining of Charles Dickens’ classic tale with the purpose of leadership development intrigued me. A Christmas Carol and its many movie versions is a story I already find highly enjoyable with its positive message of personal transformation. Drew takes this familiar tale of supernatural intervention to share his message of becoming an influential leader. These daily disciplines of curiosity, humility, and empathy can bring personal transformation and organizational transformation. Drawing from the Civil War era for his examples helps to show how timeless these principles are.
Bruce, our protagonist in A Leadership Carol, closely mirrors Scrooge's path to redemption, but through a journey faced with modern leadership challenges. Through this story we grasp the message that true leadership influence happens by being genuinely curious about others, having humble self-reflection, and demonstrating empathetic connection with those we lead. I've been inspired to examine my own leadership approach and to practice these three essential daily disciplines. Drew's concise book can be placed on your bookshelf right next to A Christmas Carol, with both books inspiring us to personal transformation.
